My passion is to support you in living a fully expressed life and being who you really are. That means feeling self-connected, self-loving and whole, in body, mind, & spirit. And, it means learning how to make self-nourishing choices in your life.
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
I received my training in Whole Life Nutrition at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2007. IIN is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories. I am also a Certified Integrative Coach with The Ford Institute in San Diego, CA. This powerful and unique method of coaching is based upon the work of best selling author, Debbie Ford. Integrative Coaching provides a powerful tool for your growth and change. The focus is in the area of your Shadow, that part of you that often creates self-sabotage.
In addition, my background includes a Master in Social Work from Loyola University of Chicago and a Bachelor in Education from Illinois State University, as well as a Certified Hypnotherapist. I have a private counseling practice in Evanston, IL .
PERSONAL BACKGROUND
Not understanding how the events in my early life had effected my choices, I did not think twice about why I had such a strong attraction to junk food, despite my desire to eat healthy? My wake up call came when my health began to decline. I was young and living in a very rocky marriage. By the time my first child was born, I was suffering from severe bouts of dizziness and unable to participate fully in my life. I recognized the possiblity of a connection to my diet, as the first attack of vertigo happened, while sleeping, following an evening with my hand in a very large bag of M & M candies.
It wasn't until many years later that I began to learn about the balance between what I was eating, my thoughts about myself, and the choices I was making. I discovered how they were all connected to the quality of my health. Eating far too many nutrient depleting foods, in addition to those that had upward rising energy, caused me to have regular attacks of dizziness.
In switching my diet to one filled with the right combination of foods for my body and lifestyle - vegetables, grains and sources of healthy protein - the energy I had been loosing quickly returned and my mood began to improve. I started to experience more groundedness and began to create balance in other areas of my life, as well. Soon people were complimenting me on my skin, my energy and my life started to improve in a mulitude of ways.
As an Integrative Counselor/ Coach, I believe that a key piece to living a happy and balanced life is found in our choices, including those we make around food. There are many diets out there, but they are not good for everyone. Now, I include Whole Life Nutrition in my counseling practice, helping others experience the benefits of creating happiness from the inside-out.

Working with Alyse has been a priviledge! I got the kind of support I needed to make changes on SO many levels. Through her gentle suggestions and non-judgemental technique, I learned things I could not have imagined, about food, about caring for myself, about opening spaces to grow. I have not only been able to create a deeper relationship with my husband, but also beginning to be able to do the work I feel destined to do. Thank you!

I'm grateful for my heightened awareness of the value of organic foods - and as a result, the awareness of how available they are. Recently, I was anxious/excited after a business appointment, and noticed how much I wanted to make those feelings go away by stopping at White Castle - I didn't. Instead I had some of my organic vegetables as soon as I got home, and after I settled in. I made lunch for myself. I'm glad I'm learning new ways of behaving - new ways of responding to my own feelings.

Your Sugar Blues talk was very informative. It helped to increase my awareness of the damaging effects of sugar - physically and emotionally. After hearing your talk, I would tell my friends that a better diet equals a better quality of life, longer and more productive.
- L. Geary
I found the Sugar Blues presentation to be a life changing one. It really enouraged me to stop and think about how we eat.; realizing that food makes up your whole body.
- A. Laltabak, M.D.
I feel like I have so many options of things to eat because of completing the program with you. I definitely learned a lot from it.
