I received my training to practice Health Counseling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories from Eastern to Western, ancient to modern, traditional to innovative. The guest speakers are the nation's leading health and wellness authorities and include authors, alternative practitioners and scientists. They hail from different disciplines, backgrounds and viewpoints to offer a diverse education that distinguishes The Institute for Integrative Nutrition from all other programs.
In addition, The Institute addresses the fundamental concepts, issues and ethics of eating in a modern world, and bridges the gap between nutrition and personal growth by teaching a concept called primary food. Healthy relationships, regular physical activity, fulfilling careers and a spiritual practice are all considered primary food, and all feed our souls and satisfy our hunger for living as much if not more than the food we eat.
I am an avid animal lover and my interest in eating healthy foods and natural healing was inspired by my two dogs. Due to some of their health issues, I began to investigate dog foods. What I discovered was that there was no processed pet food that I felt was worth feeding. There are lots of problems with dog food, but two main problems are: it contains grains and other ingredients not suitable for a carnivore, and it is cooked which destroys most of the natural goodness. Dogs are carnivores, expertly designed to eat raw meat/bones/organs. If you have pet carnivores (dogs/cats/ferrets), I'd be happy to speak to you about their diet as well!
I am certified with Teacher's College Columbia University, and by the American Association of Drugless Practioners (AADP).
