I received my training to practice Health Counseling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional philosphies such as Ayurveda with modern concepts like glycemic index, the Zone and raw foods. My certification is pending and will be completed in June.
I earned my B.A. in psychology from Pennsylvania State University where I also played on the nationally ranked women's soccer team. Following graduation from Penn State, I went on to earn a Master's Degree in organizational psychology from West Chester University. My Master's emphasis was on stress management (focusing on natural reducers for stress such as yoga, deep breathing techniques and exercise), work-life balance (especially among women), and dual-career families.
I've always believed in a strong mind-body connection - the idea that how we think affects how we feel and vice-versa. I've also learned, through years of elite athletic training, that what we put into our bodies directly affects how we "perform." I am no longer an elite athlete, however I do wish to maintain the energy and focus I need to give my very best to the people I love (including myself). Proper self-care is as important now as ever - and it's never too late to start!
I currently live in Denver with my wonderful husband, Teddy, two-year old son, Gabriel and rescued Greyhound, Montana. We enjoy so much of what beautiful Colorado has to offer and you will find us camping, hiking, biking, skiing or snowshoeing every chance we get!

Testimonials
Emily incorporates healthy eating, healthy lifestyle and a kind of gentleness and
non-aggressiveness that is necessary for a good life. I am making better choices when I eat and not feeling too
deprived. Probably the most amazing thing is that I'm not cheating when
nobody is looking, which is why I've never been able to lose weight
before. Thanks for motivating me and we'll see where I go from
here!! - J. from New York
Working
with Emily changed me. She met me were I was ... and at that time I was
exhausted mentally and emotionally, depressed, highly stressed and
experiencing a lot of anxiety. She was patient in her instruction and
always came with something prepared to help me counteract what was
going on inside of me.
Each week I added something new; a grain or some
greens to my diet, some kind of relaxation technique or simply learned more
about different body types. I found a correlation between my mood swings and how I was
eating.
She helped me
through a difficult, transitional time and I feel like I made it
through thanks to her encouragement and instruction. - D. from Denver
Working with Emily helped me come to peace with food. I'm learning
to truly enjoy delicious, healthy whole foods that help me stay
nourished in my body, mind, heart and soul.
Thank you! - M. from Denver
