I have been professionally trained and certified as a health counselor by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) where I have studied under prominent authorities in nutrition including Dr. Mehmet Oz and Dr. David Katz. I have additional certifications by both the Teachers College of Columbia University, and the American Association of Drugless Practiitioners (AADP). I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and experience serving as a social worker.
My training at IIN embraced nutritional concepts and theories, modern health issues, health counseling, healthy eating and living, bio-individuality, and more. "Food is only half the equation when it comes to creating health. It can fill you, but it cannot fulfill you". Anonymous
The Institute for Integrative Nutrition is the only school integrating all the different dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts like the USDA food pyramid, the glycemic index, the Zone and raw foods.
As a wife and mother of four boys, I understand the challenges of balancing a healthy lifestyle with the demands of raising a family. I am passionate about cooking and sitting down with my family for dinner each evening. I love taking my two Rhodesian Ridgebacks for long walks, enjoying summers at the beach, running outdoors, meditating and practicing yoga.
As an avid environmentalist, I believe that a healthy home environment goes hand-in-hand with a healthy body. I support this cause by selling non-toxic chemicals by Shaklee.

I cannot imagine embarking upon a journey of health, nutrition and wellness without Julia. Julia's guidance, encouragement and unconditional support allowed me to experiment, grow, and even make mistakes within the most non-judgmental and supportive environment. I began the course in January with enthusiasm, having always been a "health-buff", but quickly learned that there were so many more dimensions to eating the right way. I had always discounted the mind-body connection and more spiritual aspects of healing. I literally felt as though I had emerged from darkness by the end of June. I also now understand that my journey is life-long, and has only just begun. A million thanks for sharing your knowledge with me and forever making a positive impact on my life. -ELK, Chester NJ
I began my sessions with Julia believing I was fairly informed concerning nutrition. As I mentioned to Julia in my first session, just ‘wanted to tweak’ my eating habits in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The course became invaluable to me. Little did I know how much I would learn from Julia’s expertise and knowledge!! I have learned a whole new way of cooking and introducing grains and greens in to our diet for much healthier eating habits. The old adage, ‘you are what you eat’ is so true. I feel so much healthier, physically and mentally and have changed my approach to this vital part of our lives.
My husband has lost ten pounds and that extra five pounds that I couldn’t shed, has disappeared.
I loved working with Julia and really looked forward to our sessions! She helped me recognize we were not only working with nutrition but with all aspects of my lifestyle. AE, Chester, NJ
- I cook more for breakfast and lunch for sure – I am noticing a “distaste” for processed foods. I had a Pillsbury crescent roll the other night and hated it. I’m a little bummed because I used to love those but I know it’s a good thing that my taste buds recognize the “processed” nature of this and reject it.
- I am really enjoying more leafy greens and grains and look for other interesting fruits & veggies to try out.
- Healthier choices are coming more naturally – even if I don’t always MAKE the healthier choice in the end, I am more mindful of them.
- I am feeling more peaceful in that I am moving towards doing the things that are good for MYSELF and making them priority.
- I feel like I can tell when I am craving primary foods vs. food-food.
- I do things, like getting more sleep, because I know I’ll feel better in the long run.
- My husband and kids are benefiting from my healthier lifestyle.
- I’m taking the time to write a daily plan and I am LOVING it! Each night I take a little time to think about the next day and write down everything I have to do – it is really keeping me on task.
- Similarly, for the past few weeks, I’ve been writing out a weekly dinner menu – SO helpful!
- Food shopping, while I still don’t enjoy it, is an exercise in choosing wisely which makes it more interesting.
- I am proud of my “thoughtful” nature and try to see it as an advantage to be this way. My husband and I are communicating in a calm and productive manner which, given the current economic circumstances, is impressive and I’m happy we have each other!
- I am keeping my mouth shut instead of jabbering on and am quickly learning the benefits of this skill!
- I truly see the benefits of my exercising and will continue to change and improve what I do to change with my needs and goals – I’m looking forward to some Pilates & Yoga in the near future.
- I’m thinking back on all of my weeks and remembering to use tools like my hot water bottle, etc. as naturally ways to help myself. It’s fun!!

I decided to work with Julia after my two-year battle with Lyme Disease. Even after my body was rid of Lyme, I felt depleted and weak. My goal was to find ways to rebuild my immune system. After working with Julia, I realized that the final outcome way surpassed my original goal. Now, not only do I make better choices for myself and my family but I am now in more control of my health and well-being. Thank you Julia for teaching me the tools needed to keep me and my family healthy!! Leslie, Far Hills, NJ
