Your Program Includes...

Two, one-hour sessions per month, either in person or over the phone

E-mail support between sessions

Frequently Asked Questions...

What is holistic nutrition counseling?

We start with food, but then do so much more. I look at the big picture of your life (a "holistic" view)--what's going on with your eating habits, but also what's happening with your physical activity? Your relationships? Your career or school life? Your stress levels? All of these things play as big a role in your health and well-being as the food you eat. In this program we will address everything that can be affecting how you feel and function. As I say to my clients, if you're constantly stressed to the breaking point, it doesn't matter how much broccoli you eat, you won't be healthy.

What is your background, and how did you become a holistic nutrition counselor?

I received my training at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, located in New York City and affiliated with Purchase College, State University of New York. I am certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.

Prior to beginning my career as a holistic nutrition counselor, I worked for 15 years in media as an editor and writer. In addition to working at several start-ups, I spent nine years at MTV, most recently as senior editor of MTVNews.com, and was then named executive editor of ELLE.com.

Who will benefit from your program and what is expected of the client?

Anyone who is ready to make real, lasting changes to their life will benefit from my program. Whether you're looking to lose weight, clear up a nagging digestive issue, prevent the onset of chronic disease, or just generally feel healthier and more energized, this program will work for you, as long as you're willing to do the necessary work.

Who is not likely to benefit from your program?

If you're looking for another quick-fix diet that will lead to super-fast weight loss, then this program isn't for you. Weight lost very quickly through restrictive diets is always gained back once you return to "normal" eating. My approach is different--by making small, slow changes to your habits, you will see slow and steady weight loss, and then keep the weight off for good. It's also important to note that I cannot magically heal you or zap the pounds off for you--you need to be an engaged partner in the process.

How can I guarantee to get the most out of the program and reach my goals?

To get the most out of my program you just need to open your mind to new ideas, be willing to try new things, follow the recommendations we come up with together, and have confidence in yourself that you can do this!
