In ancient Vedantic culture, the koshas are layers of the self as defined by human consciousness. While these outer layers of the self (koshas) can be experienced as miraculous manifestations of the oneness of all beings, it is our goal as spiritual beings to progress inward towards our true self, or Atman. The Bliss Body, or the Anandamaya Kosha, is the final layer to surpass before achieving the supreme goal: self-realization and enlightenment. The bliss body that lies directly beside your true self is filled with peace and joy; it is filled with love and light. The bliss body that lies within you is in absolute harmony with all things and with all beings; it is impossible to disrupt the grace and satisfaction that subsides in this realm.
