FocusChild Program
Rachel has an extensive background working with children
with special needs as both a behavior analyst and a yoga teacher. Over the
years she has seen dramatic changes in children’s lives when the diet and home
environment are adjusted to meet their needs. For many families there is little
time to shop, plan and cook healthy meals. Then there is the question of how to
introduce new, healthy foods to children. The combination of a behavioral plan
with quick, easy healthy meals can bring a new element of wellness into the
home. FocusChild works on introducing healthy foods in a simple manner. With a
background in behavior analysis, Rachel is also able to implement positive
strategies to assist in easing problem behaviors and increase positive interactions.
The FocusChild Programs are designed for families,
especially those with children with special needs. The combination of
nutritional support, behavioral techniques and elements of yoga for stress
relief support a healthy environment for children and parents alike. All
programs are tailored for each individual family, as each family has their own
history, situation and needs. The programs incorporate aspects of nutrition,
behavior and yoga as best suit the situation.
Child Program
This program targets the children’s diet. Sessions include
parent education as well as one-on-one sessions with children when appropriate.
Program length runs from 1-3 months.
Family Program
This program is designed to support the family as a whole in
discovering new healthy foods, reducing stress, and improving interactions.
Individual sessions are held with at least one parent as well as with the
children as the situation permits. Some sessions may include the whole family. The
program includes, handouts, giveaways, in-home cooking lessons, kitchen remedy
and food store field trips.
The family program generally runs for 6 months to ensure a
gradual, sustainable process.
