I received my training to practice Health Counseling at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, which is the only nutrition school integrating all the different dietary theories—combining the knowledge of traditional philosophies with modern concepts like the USDA food pyramid, the glycemic index, the Zone and raw foods. I am certified by the American Association of Drugless Practitioners.
As a native New Yorker and a graduate of Oberlin College and Hunter College, I worked for many years as a freelance writer and media producer before a series of health concerns--including chronic pain, autoimmune conditions, and digestive concerns--sparked my interest in natural health, bodywork and nutrition. Through gradual changes in my diet, exercise, and lifestyle, I began to experience a more complete sense of wellness--body, mind, and spirit--than I had ever known.
In 1999 I became a Licensed Massage Therapist to begin to integrate my personal journey with my professional life. In 2008 I decided to become a Holistic Health
Counselor because a holistic (whole person) approach to my own healthcare--including nutrition, diet, exercise, body
consciousness, stress management and lifestyle changes--has transformed my life. I am passionate about offering hope and
support for people whose health concerns are not adequately addressed
through conventional medical approaches, or who just can't get a handle
on feeling truly, vibrantly well. True health and wellness are definitely possible!
I work with clients with good humor, compassion and curiosity about each person's individual needs, goals, and challenges. I understand from personal experience that changing your health or lifestyle is not always an easy or overnight process, but I also know firsthand that it's worth it to head toward abundant health, energy, and fuller joy. And it's a lot easier to do with a helping hand! I'm here to offer and support that possibility in your life, and to help make it a happy and fun journey along the way.
In addition to health counseling, I offer integrative bodywork sessions that include Clinical and Process Acupressure and energy-based bodywork. I am also a certified teacher of Pan Gu Shengong, a simple yet powerful Medical Qigong practice. Bodywork and Qigong are a great compliment to health counseling and an amazing tool for self-care and self-discovery.
