Greens and Grains

Cooking Class

Saturday April 24, 12 noon – 2 pm

Learn easy and delicious ways to prepare
grains and greens –
two food groups essential to good health.

Leafy greens are the most nutrition-filled land vegetables available.  Because they are the green part of the plant, containing chlorophyll to make oxygen with the help of sunlight, they provide potent sun energy. Leaves are, in essence, the lungs of the plant and support our lungs energetically.  Eating leafy greens on a regular basis provides an abundance of energy and uplifts the spirit.  You will feel a burst of energy within minutes of eating greens.  Green is the color of spring, of renewal, of hope, of the heart chakra.  No wonder green leafy vegetables have such positive effects on us.

Grains contain all the macro- and micronutrients needed by the body.  They are a wonderful source of complex carbohydrates.  They provide us with long-lasting energy and keep our blood sugar balanced, enabling us to concentrate and enjoy stable moods throughout the day.  Grains provide protein as well as small amounts of fat.  They also deliver a lot of fiber, known to lower cholesterol and keep our elimination regular.  They contain vitamins and minerals such as vitamins E and B, iron, calcium, and magnesium.  Grains are a magnificently well-rounded whole food.

Whether you are a seasoned cook or a novice in the kitchen you will take away some fresh ideas while having fun cooking and eating together!

2010 Delicious Summer Retreats at Polli Talu Arts Center, Estonia

June 25 – July 1

The Wild Queen – enjoying womanhood in dance

A Women’s Dance Retreat with Cornelia Freise (Germany)

Cornelia has been teaching at Polli Talu Arts Center for 6 years now.  Every summer she magically creates a sacred space for women of all ages to connect to the goddess within through meditative circle dances, mediations of the heart and the joyous communion with other women.  Each year she focuses on a particular aspect of womanhood.  Each time participants find themselves delighted, moved, inspired and “blissed out”.

In a woman there is the form of all things

Of everything that lives and moves on earth.

There is no precious stone rarer than a woman

No way of being superior to that of a woman.

Saktisangama Tantra

The wild queen is dancing. What could that mean for me as a woman?

Being wild means being connected to our instinctive power which lives in the guts. This power helps us to be grounded in dance and everyday life. Being my own queen stands for being totally myself and owning my own power, for standing tall and taking responsibility for the moment.

Everything is possible in dance if we stay open and courageously welcome new situations, be it stomping or jumping, standing upright or rolling on the floor. Our body is a wonderful instrument. It responds to music and enjoys turning and spinning with the others and connecting to the Great Whole.

No prior dance training is necessary.

Cornelia Freise lives in Bremen, Germany. As a lawyer she worked on several scientific projects. Then the direction of her life changed. For 22 years now she has worked in the field of circle dances and dance therapy. She trained in Biodanza - Dance of Life, a technique developed by Rolando Toro from Chile. Since 1992 she has worked exclusively with dance. In 1996 she founded „The Dancing Wild Sow – “Institute for Transformation through Dance, Meditative Dancing and Dance Therapy” in Bremen which offers “Dancing from the Space of the Heart“ a 2-year dance education for people from different professional backgrounds. Since 2002 she conducts workshops in Singapore, California and Estonia. Since 1985 she is following the mystical path of the golden Sufis which inspires and carries her work.

Fee                  Euro 650 includes the workshop fee, meals, housing and transfer from the airport to Polli Talu Arts Center (international travel is not included)
